Amlwch Viking Festival 2025
The Amlwch Viking Festival is a two day event featuring a viking re-enactment group with a full mock up viking boat burning ceremony on the quayside at Amlwch Port.
Journey back in time to the dramatic days of the early 10th century when Vikings sailed the treacherous waters around Anglesey. The Amlwch Viking Festival brings history to life through authentic recreation of medieval Viking life, complete with spectacular battles, traditional crafts, and immersive historical experiences. Featuring The Vikings re-enactment society—the UK's oldest and largest Dark Age re-enactment society, established in 1971—the festival presents over 200 meticulously equipped warriors and villagers who transform Amlwch into a living historical tableau...

A Living History Tradition
The Amlwch Viking Festival was first established in 1997 and became a cherished biennial tradition in the Anglesey tourism calendar after 2000.
This spectacular festival has grown into one of North Wales' most authentic historical events, attracting around 15,000 visitors to witness genuine Viking recreations.
Our festival recreates the dramatic early 10th century political rivalry on Anglesey, leading to internecine treachery and the eventual Battle of Ros Meilion to expel the Vikings. This pivotal moment in Welsh history represents the ongoing struggles between Viking raiders and the native Welsh population.
